DHHS conducts inspection at Elkhorn nursing home where 5 died, dozens tested positive for COVID-19

OMAHA, Neb. —

On Monday, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services inspected the Life Care Center in Elkhorn.

According to a news release from the DHHS, officials are in the process of reviewing the findings from the inspection.
he DHHS said it will release information about the process once it is completed.

The Life Care Center in Elkhorn is a long-term care facility. As of Wednesday, Life Care Center of Elkhorn announced that a total of five residents have died and 10 are hospitalized as the facility grapples with a COVID-19 outbreak.

Officials from the facility said 79 residents have been tested and 52 have tested positive.

The DHHS said it is working with the Douglas County Health Department and UNMC/Nebraska Medicine in an effort to care for the residents and staff members of the Life Care Center.
